The New Mutants #39
In "Pawns of the White Queen," the New Mutants find themselves drawn into a deeper web of intrigue as Wolfsbane, Cypher, Magik, Karma, Cannonball, and Magma join forces with the Hellions, while Mirage returns home and Magik retreats to Limbo. Tensions rise when Magneto learns of Empath’s attack on Tom and Sharon, prompting him to bring the team back—only for Emma Frost to intervene by calling the police. Written by Chris Claremont and illustrated by Keith Pollard, with inks by Dell Barras, colors by Glynis Oliver, and letters by Tom Orzechowski, this 1986 issue features a striking cover by Arthur Adams and Bill Sienkiewicz.
