About the series

Marvel launched The New Mutants in 1983 as a fresh, teen-focused corner of the X-Men universe, following a new generation of young mutants trained at Xavier's School. Over its 100-issue run, the series evolved from Chris Claremont's character-driven coming-of-age stories into a darker, more cosmic saga under Louise Simonson, with Bill Sienkiewicz’s experimental art defining its most iconic early look. It introduced and developed fan-favorite characters like Cannonball, Wolfsbane, and Sunspot, setting them apart from the main X-teams with their own distinct struggles and adventures.
