The Fury of Firestorm #26

Against a stark black background, the cover of this August 1984 issue of The Fury of Firestorm, the Nuclear Man delivers an arresting vertical composition: a flame-crowned Firestorm braces defiantly in the foreground while a powerful blue-skinned, gold-adorned antagonist looms inverted above him, seemingly bearing down with crushing force. The tension between the two figures is immediate and visceral, with cover art by Rafael Kayanan and Romeo Tanghal making excellent use of negative space to amplify the threat. With Gerry Conway at the helm, issue #26 looks like a charged chapter for the Nuclear Man.
