“The Strange New World of the Fly”

In "The Strange New World of the Fly," orphan Tommy Troy stumbles into a haunted house of "wizards" after overhearing crooks, where he discovers a mysterious fly ring that opens a portal to another world. From it emerges Turan, a being from the advanced Fly People who have devolved into insects and now seek a worthy champion to fight crime and greed. With newfound abilities—wall-walking, super-strength, 360-degree vision, and unmatched cunning—Tommy dons a costume and becomes The Fly, confronting the crooks and bringing them to justice before returning to his true self. Written by Joe Simon and illustrated by Jack Kirby, with cover art by Kirby and inks by Simon, this 1959 adventure blends pulp mystery with early superhero flair in a 10-cent comic.
