But when Archie, ever skeptical, remarks that Hot Dog’s loyalty seems suspiciously precise, the real mystery begins to take shape.
Archie trades his car for a motorcycle, convinced he’s ready to hit the road with the cool biker crowd. Veronica, determined to keep him from joining the scene, hires actors to stage a fake gang scare—just to see how far he’ll go to fit in.
In "Making a Big Splash," Jughead’s mom insists he take Big Ethel to a ball game for her birthday, setting off a series of awkward moments as Ethel frets over her new dress. When her anxiety reaches a peak, Jughead makes a split-second decision that shocks everyone—including himself.
When Betty leaves her cat Caramel with Veronica for a night—her father’s boss is terrified of felines—things quickly go awry. Veronica’s lack of attention lets Caramel slip out, setting off a small, furry adventure through Riverdale’s streets.
In the haunted house, the wizard sends Tommy on a grocery run—only for him to be knocked down by fleeing crooks. He meets Dolly nearby, rubs his ring, and transforms into The Fly, testing his buzz gun on the crooks with surprising results. Back at the haunted house, Tommy’s new powers earn him a scolding, but the mystery of his transformation lingers.
In "Come into My Parlor," Archie Comics Digest #33 (1978), the Fly takes on the web-wielding Spider Spry, a crook who uses scuba gear and homemade nets to pull off underwater heists. When a mysterious theft on the waterfront catches his attention, the Fly dives in—literally—only to find himself outmaneuvered by a foe who’s as slippery as he is cunning.
