The Amazing Spider-Man #690
Part three of "No Turning Back" puts Spider-Man in a genuinely unsettling situation: deep in a flooded tunnel, he faces off against a wild-eyed, snarling figure in a brown coat while a crouching civilian cowers between them in the glowing green water. Looming out of the darkness behind them are a host of glowing-eyed, spider-like creatures, their menacing silhouettes filling the archway in a way that makes the tunnel feel like a trap closing in. Giuseppe Camuncoli's pencils and Klaus Janson's inks give the scene a raw, gritty energy that suits this 2012 milestone anniversary run perfectly.
