The Amazing Spider-Man #632
Part three of "Shed" arrives with one of 2010's most unsettling covers: a massive, spiky reptilian creature dominates the image, its grotesque head rendered in Spider-Man's red-and-blue colors — as though the wall-crawler's very identity has been consumed or transformed by something monstrous. Chris Bachalo's pencils and Tim Townsend's inks deliver scales, jagged teeth, and hollow eyes with a visceral intensity that makes the horror of this arc impossible to ignore. Zeb Wells and the artistic team are clearly pushing Spider-Man somewhere genuinely dark, and this installment looks every bit as harrowing as that promise demands.
