The Amazing Spider-Man #619
Part of Marvel's 2010 "Gauntlet" storyline, this issue of The Amazing Spider-Man carries one of the more unsettling covers of the run — Spider-Man crouched amid a sea of motionless, grey-toned bodies, his suit splashed with vivid red that drips down like strings from the title above, suggesting a web of consequences closing in around him. Marcos Martín's cover art is striking in its restraint, using a near-monochrome palette punctuated by that bold crimson to create a mood that's tense and genuinely haunting. Writer Dan Slott and artist Marcos Martín, with colors by Javier Rodríguez, bring "Mysterioso Part 2: Re-Appearing Act" to life — and if the cover is any indication, things are not going well for our friendly neighborhood hero.
