About this Collection

This collection reprints a series of one-shot issues that reimagine pivotal moments from DC history through the lens of the Dark Multiverse, where heroes fall and tragedies unfold. Each story twists familiar events—like the death of Superman or the Knightfall saga—into darker outcomes, often featuring corrupted versions of iconic characters such as Batman, Wonder Woman, and Deathstroke. The volume includes tales like "The Batman Who Laughs" and "The Drowned," exploring how a single choice can lead to catastrophic alternate realities.

Tempus Fuginaut searches the Dark Multiverse for heroes who could help in an upcoming multiversal crisis. His search brings him to a world where after Bane broke Batman's back and Azrael took over as Batman, he defeated Bruce Wayne when he tried to reclaim the mantle of the Bat. Now 30 years later, Jean-Paul as Saint Batman rules over Gotham that has been cut off from the world. Tourne, the son of Bane, and Shiva plan to defeat Jean-Paul to free Gotham, but they need the help of Bruce Wayne, whom Azrael has kept alive as a head and torso only.
