About this Collection

This volume collects issues #28–33 of the 2016 Suicide Squad series, along with the tie-in one-shot Suicide Squad: The Janus Directive. The story follows Amanda Waller's Task Force X as they become entangled in a covert government conspiracy involving a secret organization known as the Janus Directive, forcing the squad to confront threats from both within and outside their ranks. Written by Rob Williams, this arc pits the team against rival black-ops groups and tests their loyalties in a high-stakes espionage thriller.

Ray is impersonating a mob contact who is involved in a plot to kill a political figure when he is attacked by an armored assassin who calls himself Bishop. Bishop handily beats the Checkmate Knight and blows up his target (or thinks he does, not realizing it was Ray in disguise). After a short breather, Ray goes out as Warwick again to confront the man who tried to have him killed. Once again, Bishop attacks, but this time Ray is ready for him with a souped up suit of Checkmate armor. Waller shows up at Checkmate with reinforcements for a war that is about to rock the intelligence community.
