Solo #5
DC's Solo anthology series handed each issue entirely to one creator, and issue #5 belongs to Darwyn Cooke from top to bottom — writing, art, inking, coloring, and lettering all his own. The cover, also by Cooke, sets the tone with quiet confidence: a lone figure in a rumpled suit, cigar in mouth and coat slung over one arm, rendered in loose, expressive brushwork against a stark white background — equal parts world-weariness and cool. It's a striking, stripped-down image that feels like the opening frame of a great noir short story, and at $4.99 it promises a full Cooke-crafted world inside titled "World's Window.
