Marvel Comics' The Fantastic Four #81445
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis 1977 Pocket Books edition collects the first six issues of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's groundbreaking Fantastic Four series, originally published in the early 1960s. It presents the team's origin against the Mole Man, their battles with the Skrulls and Namor the Sub-Mariner, and the debut of Doctor Doom, establishing the foundation of the Marvel Universe. As an early mass-market paperback reprint, it offered a new generation of readers access to these classic Silver Age stories.
In "The Fantastic Four Fight Back! [Part 3]," the team stages a daring infiltration of the Skrull mothership, using their wits and disguises to play the part of captured spies. Mr. Fantastic leans on old comic book clippings from Strange Tales and Journey Into Mystery to convincingly mislead the Skrull command, feeding them false intelligence about Earth’s defenses.
In "The Coming of ... Sub-Mariner!," the Fantastic Four face a tide of chaos when the Thing confronts the giant Giganto, detonating a bomb to stop him—only for the Human Torch to send both Giganto and the mysterious Sub-Mariner hurtling into the ocean. With the sea now alive with threat, the Sub-Mariner emerges with a warning: "I'll be back!"—setting the stage for a clash between surface and deep, man and monster.
In "Part 2 'Back to the Past!'", Doctor Doom traps the Fantastic Four in his American castle stronghold and sends the Torch, the Thing, and Mr. Fantastic hurtling through time on a dangerous mission to recover Blackbeard’s lost treasure—before they can figure out how to stop him, they’re already stranded in the past.
