This March 1987 issue kicks off "The Universo Project" with a cover by Steve Lightle that sets an ominous tone: a massive, damaged robotic dome crowned by flames dominates the scene against a stormy blue sky crackling with lightning, surrounded by debris and fire. Standing defiantly to the left is a blonde Legionnaire in a red costume, hands on hips, cool and composed amid the chaos. Paul Levitz, Greg LaRocque, and Mike DeCarlo bring Chapter 1 of what promises to be a substantial Legion saga — a strong jumping-on point for anyone drawn to large-scale, tension-filled storytelling.
