Justice League of America #197
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThe cover by George Pérez and Mike DeCarlo says it all — Superman and Wonder Woman lead a united charge of JLA and Justice Society heroes, with Hawkman soaring above, Black Canary, Batman, Firestorm, and more flanking them as they face down a waiting assembly of the Secret Society of Super-Villains. This December 1981 issue bills itself as the final showdown between those two supergroups, and with the Justice Society guest-starring alongside the League, the sheer density of heroic firepower on display makes a compelling case for the excitement within. Gerry Conway's "Crisis in Limbo!" has the makings of a satisfying crossover payoff.

As Earth-Two begins to lose all of their heroes (save the ones in limbo in the suspended-animation chambers), the Earth-One Secret Society members wonder why it happened there. They slowly realize they were duped by Ultra, who knew what would really happen. As they attack him, the master villain sends them back to Earth-One, and stranded there, their only chance is to get back to limbo and free the 10 heroes. Released, the heroes then defeat all of the Society members and Ultra is sent into limbo with everything returning as it was.
