Justice League of America #196
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThe cover by George Pérez and Dick Giordano says it all: a massive, armored gorilla villain stands triumphant over a fallen Superman, with the Flash, Firestorm, and other heroes of the Justice League and Justice Society strewn across a devastated battlefield around him. The blaring cover copy promises all-out war between the Secret Society of Super-Villains and DC's greatest champions — and teases, with gleeful audacity, that you might not like who comes out the winner. Gerry Conway's "Countdown to Crisis!" with interior art by Pérez and Romeo Tanghal makes this 1981 issue a thrilling collision of two heroic teams facing overwhelming odds.

The Ultra-Humanite is pleased that the other 9 heroes are rounded up by the Secret Society on Earth-One and Earth-Two by their foes and placed in suspended-animation containers in limbo. He then goes to capture his longtime arch-foe, The Earth-Two Superman, whom he succeeds in capturing and places in the last open container. Soon his plan will be completed and he will rule over Earth-Two (minus its heroes) alongside the other Earth-Two Society members.
