Jack of Fables #1
From Vertigo's Fables universe comes this 2006 spin-off that puts the spotlight squarely on everyone's favorite self-promoting trickster. The cover by James Jean says it all: Jack himself — wearing a shirt that reads "Ensemble Books Are For Losers" — sprints down an open road with a small dog in tow, dodging tomatoes while a crowd of angry Fabletown residents waves protest signs reading "Hit the Road Jack" and "Leave Fable Town" behind him. Bill Willingham and Matthew Sturges team with artist Tony Akins and inker Andrew Pepoy to send this incorrigible schemer out on his own, and if the cover is any indication, Jack couldn't be more pleased with the arrangement.
