Invincible #9 finds Robert Kirkman and Ryan Ottley's young hero in the thick of a three-way aerial brawl, his blue-and-yellow costume gleaming as he grins defiantly while a massive, stone-skinned creature looms above and a red-and-yellow costumed fighter launches into the fray alongside him. Ottley's dynamic composition — rubble exploding outward, bodies twisting at sharp angles against a deep black void — makes the confrontation feel genuinely kinetic and a little breathless. A strong early chapter from the Image series that proves this creative team was already having a lot of fun pushing their hero to his limits.
