This fiery cover from Ryan Ottley and Val Staples puts Mark Grayson squarely in the middle of a brutal two-front assault — a glowing, fire-wreathed figure bears down from behind while a grimacing opponent grapples with him from below, blood and embers filling the frame with vivid intensity. Kirkman, Ottley, and Crabtree's 2007 series was already earning its cover-boasted reputation as "probably the best superhero comic book in the universe," and an image like this makes it easy to see why.
