Invincible #21

Two costumed heroes leap across a dramatic urban skyline bathed in deep crimson — the blue-and-black clad Invincible surges forward with arms raised, while a second dark-suited figure charges in behind him against a city canyon of towering skyscrapers. Ryan Ottley's cover art, colored by Bill Crabtree, gives the whole scene a kinetic momentum that perfectly captures what made this 2005 Image title such an energetic presence on the stands. Robert Kirkman's series was already earning its cheeky masthead boast — "Probably the Best Superhero Comic Book in the Universe" — and issue #21 looks every bit the part.
