A young boy in a shark-print t-shirt stands apart — wide-eyed and uncertain — while a mosaic of familiar faces surrounds him: a bearded man, a young woman with a purple bow, a couple leaning close together, a looming figure silhouetted against Earth from orbit, and a blue-skinned figure lurking at the edge of the frame. It's a strikingly intimate composition for a series that bills itself as "the best superhero comic in the universe," and part eleven of twelve promises that the emotional stakes are every bit as high as the cosmic ones.
