Robert Kirkman and Ryan Ottley's Invincible continues its reputation as one of Image's most visceral superhero series, and this 2014 cover makes that abundantly clear. Ottley's artwork depicts a bloodied, shirtless figure dominating the foreground — chains wrapped around a grotesque, gore-drenched mass he appears to be dismembering — while Invincible and a glowing skeletal-faced figure surge upward from below in a flash of green energy. John Rauch's deep amber and neon-green color palette gives the whole scene a tense, unsettling atmosphere that promises the story inside won't pull any punches.
