“Quicksand!”

In "Quicksand!", Iceman confronts a haunting mystery tied to his father’s past and a mysterious entity known as Oblivion, who forces him to journey through time to find a woman named Marge Smith—unaware she is his long-lost daughter, Mirage. Written by J. M. DeMatteis and brought to life by Alan Kupperberg’s expressive art, this emotionally charged issue explores identity, memory, and legacy in a story that reshapes Iceman’s understanding of his own existence. The cover by Mike Zeck and John Beatty captures the surreal tension of a moment suspended between past and present.

Iceman's father has died back in 1942, decades before his son was ever born. Bobby's life literally flashes before his eyes as he finds himself in the presence of the entity, Oblivion. Bobby has effectively ceased to exist with Oblivion his only link to a life. Oblivion sends Iceman to retrieve his daughter, Mirage, who is hiding in time from her father as the young woman, Marge Smith. Iceman finds Marge but she fights him as she doesn't want to return home. When Mirage cuts Iceman down, she curses her father and they both appear back in the presence of Oblivion.
