Iceman #2
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThe second chapter of Marvel's 1985 four-issue Iceman limited series puts Bobby Drake squarely in peril, as the cover — penciled by Mike Zeck and inked by Bob McLeod — shows a frosty Iceman caught in the grip of a massive insectoid creature ridden by the multi-armed, weapon-wielding Kali, while a smaller figure of Iceman glides across ice in the upper corner and a cityscape burns in the background. The tagline "In the Clutches of — Kali!" says it all: Bobby's facing a threat that's equal parts mythological and menacing. With J. M. DeMatteis writing and Alan Kupperberg on interior art, this series continues to give the X-Man's solo adventure a genuinely distinct flavor.

Iceman's father is furious as he has engaged in a super battle in front of all of their relatives and destroyed the neighbor's house. His mother lays on an even harsher guilt trip by telling Bobby that his father has a heart condition. Bobby finds himself mysteriously transported to 1942. A cop shoots him in the arm. Bobby awakens to find himself being nursed back to health by his parents, but forty years in the past. They are attacked by the strange being, Kali. William Drake tries to help Iceman and is cut down. Bobby's father dies right in front of him, decades before he was ever born.
