“Home Is Where the War Is!”

In "Home Is Where the War Is!", Clutch takes a rare break from duty only to find his past colliding with his present when an old racing friend is coerced into serving Cobra—his family held hostage. Written by Steven Grant and illustrated by Geof Isherwood, with inks by D'Agostino and Tartag, this 1984 issue blends personal stakes with the ongoing conflict, as Clutch races against time to free his friend’s family and call in the Joes before the mission goes off track. John Byrne’s dynamic cover captures the tension perfectly.

Clutch heads home for a little R&R and finds that one of his old racing buddies is forced to work for Cobra as they're holding his family hostage. Clutch helps him by freeing his family from them, then calls on the other Joes for help to capture the Cobra agents, then returns to active duty instead of staying a little longer on furlough.
