Meanwhile, Zarana, using the Python Patrol, sends a dangerous signal to the mind-controlled Joes, testing their loyalty as Roxy and Tiff face a moral crisis inside the Pit III. The issue, written by Larry Hama and illustrated by M. D. Bright with inks by Randy Emberlin, colors by Bob Sharen, and letters by Rick Parker, features a cover by Ron Wagner and Bob McLeod.

The Commander invades Millville and places everyone under the Brainwave Scanner. When the two Joes, alongside another resident who wasn't placed under the Scanner, attempt to contact Uncle Jeff, so as to escape and warn the Joes, Mutt's brainwashed uncle takes them into Cobra custody. Meanwhile, Zarana, alongside Python Patrol, sends a signal to the two brainwashed Joes to destroy the Pit III, with Roxy and Tiff inside, failing because of their inner morals stopping them. Zarana escapes from the pursuing Joes into the desert using a Python Patrol uniform.
