“The Tenth Circle, Part One: Suffer the Little Children”

In "The Tenth Circle, Part One: Suffer the Little Children," John Byrne’s Doom Patrol returns with a haunting, character-driven story that plunges the team into chaos when Simon Stagg’s experiments on Metamorpho spiral out of control, unleashing a monstrous, ever-changing entity. As Robotman, Elastic Girl, and Negative Man struggle to contain the threat, the truth slowly emerges—this is no random rampage, but a tragedy born from desperation and loss, culminating in a heartbreaking reunion when Sapphire finds her husband, Metamorpho, unconscious and broken. The cover by John Byrne captures the story’s raw emotional weight, setting a tone of dread and empathy.

Simon Stagg’s experiments on Metamorpho to increase his powers and control have failed, resulting in a gigantic freakish monster on a rampage. Robotman, Elastic Girl and Negative Man try to contain him, unaware who he is. Caulder figures it out and has a talk with Stagg but neither has a clue how to stop the ever-changing monster. Finally, Rex’s wife Sapphire finds him in his normal state, but unconscious, and the Doom Patrol members finally realize who he is. Nudge is depressed that her only friend, Grunt, has been reclaimed by Hank Gambol, the owner of the circus where Nudge first met him.
