Catwoman Secret Files and Origins #1

Nov 2002 · DC · 4.95 USD; 8.25 CAD
“The Many Lives of Selina Kyle”

In "The Many Lives of Selina Kyle," Ed Brubaker and Michael Avon Oeming explore the mythos surrounding Gotham’s most enigmatic feline thief, as rival mobsters and civilians alike speculate on her true nature—criminal, vigilante, or something more. The story builds tension through fragmented perspectives before culminating in a striking confrontation where Catwoman makes her presence known in the East End, sending a clear message to Junior Galante. Cameron Stewart’s dynamic cover captures the moment’s intensity, while the interior art by Oeming and inks by Manley bring a gritty, noir-inspired edge to this definitive origin exploration.

Several mobsters discuss Catwoman. One thinks she's a crimefighter, one thinks she's Batman's lover, and one thinks she's a crook. Holly and Karon discuss Catwoman. Holly thinks she's a savior, among other things. The story ends with Catwoman busting-up the mobsters. She tells them to tell their boss, Junior Galante, the head of Gotham's Mafia, that the price of doing business in Gotham's East End just went up.
