Kirby's run reimagines T'Challa in a series of cosmic and mystical adventures, introducing new villains and allies while expanding the Panther's mythos beyond Wakanda. The collection includes the debut of the villainous King Solomon's Frog and the first appearance of the character Venomm.
"King Solomon's Frog!" kicks off Jack Kirby’s bold return to the Black Panther with a high-stakes treasure hunt rooted in ancient mysticism and forgotten technology. When the Black Panther aids Abner Little in reclaiming the Brass Frog—a powerful time machine hidden by his grandfather Azzuri—tensions explode among the Collectors, leading to a clash with Princess Zanda and the sudden activation of the enigmatic Hatch-22. Jack Kirby’s dynamic storytelling and iconic art, enhanced by Mike Royer’s inks and Dave Hunt’s colors, bring this thrilling mystery to life, with Ernie Chan’s striking cover capturing the artifact’s otherworldly allure.
In "King Solomon's Frog!", Black Panther teams up with fellow Collector Abner Little to reclaim the Brass Frog, a powerful ancient time machine hidden away by his grandfather Azzuri. When the artifact is stolen by another Collector, Alfred Queely, the duo must evade Princess Zanda, who seeks the Frog for herself—only to trigger its activation and unleash the enigmatic Hatch-22.
In "The Six-Million Year Man," a mysterious man from the distant future named Hatch-22 clashes with Princess Zanda’s forces, demanding to be returned to his own time. With the help of the Black Panther and Abner Little, Zanda sets out for King Solomon’s tomb to recover a lost piece of ancient technology—the second Brass Frog—needed to complete the time machine and send Hatch-22 home.
In "Race Against Time," Black Panther, Abner Little, and Princess Zanda race through the deadly traps of King Solomon's tomb, searching for the second Brass Frog to complete an ancient time machine. With the fate of Hatch-22 hanging in the balance, the trio must outwit the tomb’s final trials before time runs out.
In "Friends or Foes," the Black Panther and his companions flee the collapsing ruins of King Solomon's Tomb, only to find themselves in the kingdom of Narobia. There, they meet Princess Zanda and a new circle of collectors—each with their own mysterious agenda and a shared obsession with a lost city of samurai.
In "A Cup of Youth," Black Panther and Abner Little journey to the mysterious Samurai City in pursuit of the legendary water of eternal youth, while back in Wakanda, T'Challa’s half-brother General Jakarra launches a daring coup against the regent N'Gassi.
In "Drums!", T'Challa uncovers the ancient origins of the Black Panther legacy and Wakanda’s vibranium mound, setting a course that brings him back to the Collectors with Abner Little. When Little tries to reveal his secret—having stolen a vial of miracle water from Samurai City—the vial shatters in a violent clash among the Collectors, forcing T'Challa to retreat. Back in Wakanda, General Jakarra’s reckless ambition leads him to confront raw vibranium, with consequences that twist his body and his fate.
