Bizarre Adventures #32

This 1982 Marvel Magazine Group anthology puts Thor front and center in a way that feels genuinely primal — Joe Jusko's painted cover captures the Thunder God sprawled across a Viking longship's prow, hammer crackling with lightning as storm-churned seas rage around him, the serpentine dragon-head of the vessel rearing above it all. The theme of "Thor and Other Gods" promises mythology with teeth, and the lead story "Sea of Destiny" — written by Alan Zelenetz with art by John Bolton — sounds perfectly matched to that wild, elemental energy on display. A terrific slice of early-'80s Marvel at its most atmospheric.
