Beyond! #[nn]
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis collection reprints the 2008 miniseries 'Beyond!', a loose sequel to the original Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars. The story strands a diverse cast of heroes and villains—including Spider-Man, Wolverine, the Thing, and Kraven the Hunter—on a mysterious alien battlefield, where they are manipulated by the enigmatic Stranger. Dwayne McDuffie's script blends cosmic stakes with character-driven conflict, while Scott Kolins' art captures the chaos of a Secret Wars-style free-for-all.
In "The Great Beyond," Venom’s brutal act against Spider-Man sets off a chain of chaos that sends a fractured group of heroes crashing onto the mysterious Battleworld aboard the Beyonder’s ship. With Medusa’s wrath still echoing and the landscape shifting around them, the survivors encounter Michael Collins—whose true identity as Deathlok slowly unravels as he reveals they’re not the first team to face this fate. Written by Dwayne McDuffie and brought to life by Scott Kolins’ dynamic art and Paul Mounts’ vivid colors, this 2008 Marvel issue blends high-stakes survival with the eerie mystery of an ever-changing world, all under a cover by Scott Kolins.

Venom has killed Spider-Man and is beaten down by Medusa for this action. As he tries to escape the agony of being whipped by her hair, he damages the Beyonder's ship and the heroes crash land onto Battleworld. As the heroes try to regroup, they meet Michael Collins and learn that they are not the first band of super beings who have been abducted by the Beyonder. Hank provides a shrunken Quinjet from his pouch and as the heroes try to fly to safety, they are attacked by Dragon Man. Spider-Man, who is supposed to be dead, gets up and wanders off. Collins reveals that he is really Deathlok.
