Beyond! #4

Issue four of six in this Marvel limited series finds Spider-Man's familiar red-and-blue suit stretched grotesquely across what appears to be a monstrous, nightmarish creature — a swirling mass of dark, clawed limbs and a single unsettling glowing green eye, all enveloped in turbulent pink and purple clouds. Scott Kolins's cover art warps the reassuring spider-symbol into something genuinely unsettling, perfectly teasing the "Phantasm" story within. Written by Dwayne McDuffie and illustrated by Kolins, Beyond! continues to prove itself a series unafraid to push its heroes into deeply strange territory.
