“Prize Fright”

In "Prize Fright," Jughead’s uncle Herman spins a wild tale about performing an appendectomy with a rusty pocket knife, prompting Jughead to test the story’s truth at the hospital where Betty is interning. After a vivid dream where he’s forced into a nightmare surgery by his uncle, Jughead wakes to a real-life slip on the floor—only to be told by Betty that Herman, now the elevator operator, is ready to “treat” him in two minutes. Jughead's uncle Herman brags about a supposed appendectomy he once performed using a rusty pocket knife. Jughead dismisses the tall tale and heads to the hospital where Betty is interning. While he waits for her, he falls asleep and dreams that slipping on the floor and falling leads to an emergency appendectomy to be performed by Uncle Herman. Betty wakes him and he slips on the floor just as he dreamed. When she says his uncle can have him in the examining room in two minutes, Jughead runs away. Betty steps into the elevator where Uncle Herman is the elevator operator.
