“The Spectral Sniper”

Archie Comics Digest #29 brings a full-color burst of Riverdale chaos straight to your hands, with the cover by Dan DeCarlo packing in scenes of slapstick, romance, and teenage mischief all around the edges. At the center, Archie and friends are seated at Pop's soda fountain, trading quips with Pop himself — with one of them cheerfully announcing they want a few last moments alone with their allowance. Surrounding that central vignette, couples smooching, "WAP!"-sound-effect confrontations, and a hungry-looking superhero type round out this lively 1978 digest, which also promises far-out fun, fascinating puzzles, and blazing color throughout.

Archie's band (consisting of him, Jughead, and Dilton) play at a teen club to raise money to buy electric guitars, but Jughead has arranged for the band to be paid in hamburgers instead. Archie's band seems sure to lose to Reggie's heavily-amplified band in a rock 'n roll contest, but something small has a large impact on the outcome.
