About this Collection

This volume collects issues #6-11 of the 2013 Animal Man series, continuing Buddy Baker's struggle to balance his family life with his role as a superhero. The story arc, 'Animal vs. Man,' pits him against a new threat that challenges his connection to the Red and his very humanity.

In "Animal vs. Man, Part One," Jeff Lemire and Steve Pugh launch a haunting, surreal journey as Buddy Baker confronts the Red and the Animal Totems, who reveal a chilling truth: his body is no longer his own, held captive by a Hunter with a dangerous grip on Cliff. Meanwhile, on Earth, John Constantine, Zatanna, and Madame Xanadu arrive at Ellen’s doorstep with urgent warnings, offering only a cryptic clue—find the Swamp Thing—before the shadows close in. The Shepherd takes Buddy through the Red to the Animal Totems, who tell him that he can't return hoe because his body has been taken over by a Hunter, who now has Cliff in his power. Meanwhile, back on Earth, John Constantine, Zatanna, and Madame Xanadu have come to warn Ellen and her family about the danger they are in, though the only help they offer is a suggestion to find the Swamp Thing.
