“Circus of a Thousand Thrills [Part I]”

The Justice Society of America joins the circus in this charming 1950 DC adventure, and the cover by Art Peddy and Bernard Sachs captures the spectacle beautifully — Green Lantern and The Flash stand triumphantly atop a human pyramid formed with Atom, while Wonder Woman rides a parade elephant, a roaring lion prowls in a gilded cage wagon, clowns tumble underfoot, and a brass band marches through a cheering crowd. With 52 big pages and John Broome scripting, this "mystery-adventure under the Big Top" promises the JSA facing whatever strange intrigue lurks behind the sawdust and sequins. It's a wonderfully vivid snapshot of Golden Age superhero storytelling at its most delightfully inventive.

With all the JSA members re-assembled at ringside, they are stunned to see every one of the people that they had thrown into jail for committing crimes in the center ring! At that moment, Alimand announces to the crowd that the JSA will perform some feats, which they do...and the villains take it on the lam. The All-Stars round up the crooks, take them to the Police Station, where they are amazed to see two sets of circus performers. Finally, Alimand confesses that the Circus of a Thousand Thrills is, perhaps, the rarest circus of them all, because they have identical twin performers!
