“The Man Who Conquered the Solar System! [Part I]”

In "The Man Who Conquered the Solar System! [Part I]," the Justice Society of America investigates a baffling claim from Texas oilman John Morrison, who swears he saw a UFO and alien beings in the desert—despite no physical evidence. With the Army and police stumped, the JSA recalls a missing Professor Napier and, following a clue from a wire recorder, take up his unfinished rocketship to journey to Jupiter. Written by John Broome and illustrated by Frank Giacoia and Art Peddy, with cover by Art Peddy and Bernard Sachs, this 1950 adventure blends sci-fi wonder with the JSA’s signature blend of mystery and daring.

The JSA members gather in their projection room to view the latest newsreels, and the story that shocks them involves Texas oil millionaire John Morrison, who claims to have seen a UFO fly over and land while driving through the desert, and witnessing strange creatures as well. The Army and Police cannot find a trace, but the JSA remembers a Professor Napier from that area, and decide to visit him. They don't locate him, but a wire recorder left behind tells of the Professor building a rocketship to fly to Jupiter, so the JSA finishes the Professor's rocketship and heads toward Jupiter.
