This issue contains ten original Western stories and four classic reprints. Featured fiction includes "When a Texan Takes Over" by Louis L'Amour, in which a armed stranger seeks to avoid gunfight despite carrying sixshooter and Winchester. Kenneth L. Sinclair's "Time for a Hangin'" depicts protagonist Jed confronting five armed men. Other stories include Raley Brien's "But One Man Alone Might," dealing with a killer's victims; Wayne D. Overholser's "Bushwhacker's Bride," concerning Marty Daren and his wife's attention to a range boss; and Lauran Paine's "Tombstone Story," where Tom Waters is murdered over his distinctive checkered shirt. Additional tales cover ranching disputes, revenge, and frontier justice, including works by H. A. DeRosso, Noel M. Loomis, and Ed Ashley. The reprint anthology features classic stories by Johnny Lawson, Brent North, Ken Jason, and Gunnison Steele.
