Norman Maurer
Norman Albert Maurer was born on May 13, 1926, in the United States, and died on November 23, 1986. He is best remembered for his deep, decades-long association with the Three Stooges, both in comics and on screen. Maurer entered the field in the mid-1940s, working as an artist and writer on crime and adventure titles. His early credits include inking and penciling for series such as *Crime Does Not Pay*, *Boy Comics*, and *Daredevil*, where he developed a clean, expressive style suited to both action and comedy. In the late 1940s, he married the daughter of Stooge Moe Howard, cementing a personal and professional bond with the trio. Maurer went on to write and draw *The Three Stooges* comic books, and later created *The Little Stooges*, adapting the team’s slapstick humor to the page. He also worked on the Western series *Wyatt Earp*. Beyond comics, he moved into film and television production, directing and producing Stooges-related projects. Maurer’s legacy is that of a versatile craftsman who helped keep the Stooges’ anarchic spirit alive in print and on screen.
