Daredevil #53 (1949) kicks off with the masked hero and the Wise Guys exploring a museum exhibit designed to expose myths, including a life-sized replica of an Egyptian tomb. When Daredevil casually mentions the legendary Palace of Zanzarah—said to be lost to time—the museum curator challenges him to lead an expedition to find it. What begins as a thrilling quest for ancient treasure quickly turns tense when the team realizes someone is determined to keep them from leaving with the spoils. Written by Charles Biro and illustrated by Norman Maurer, with cover art by Biro himself, this 10-cent adventure blends mystery and danger in a story that’s as much about the journey as it is about the prize.
