Nick Pitarra
1982–
Nick Pitarra is an American comic book artist best known for his long-running partnership with writer Jonathan Hickman. Born in 1982, he entered the industry in the late 2000s, quickly making a name for himself with his detailed, expressive linework and kinetic storytelling. Pitarra’s most celebrated work is the Image Comics series *The Manhattan Projects*, a surreal, historically twisted sci-fi epic that he co-created with Hickman, and for which he provided the distinctive art across its entire run. He also illustrated Hickman’s time-travel mini-series *The Red Wing*. A member of the Ten Ton Studios collective, Pitarra’s style—marked by intricate machinery, exaggerated anatomy, and a willingness to embrace the grotesque—made him a natural fit for off-kilter superhero fare, including work on *Doom Patrol: Weight of the Worlds* and the anthology *Astonishing Tales*. Beyond his collaborations with Hickman, he has contributed to *Leviathan* and the *Avengers by Jonathan Hickman* collected editions. Pitarra remains active in comics, his bold, unconventional approach continuing to influence a generation of artists drawn to the weirder edges of the medium.
