Animal Noir #4

The fourth installment of Juren and Lunacek's Animal Noir arrives with a cover that perfectly captures the series' offbeat, hard-boiled energy — a wide-eyed hippo looms in the foreground, half-submerged in murky water while a chaotic scene of anthropomorphic animals unfolds above and around him against a smoldering orange sky. A yellow duck, assorted rodents, and what looks like a full-blown city skirmish play out in the background, reinforcing Kevin Eastman's cover quote comparing the series to "Fritz the Cat meets Blacksad." IDW's 2017 series continues to deliver a uniquely quirky noir world where the animal kingdom's seedier side is rendered with wild, cartoonish charm.
