Leone Frollo
Leone Frollo, born 9 April 1931 in Venice, Italy, and died 17 October 2018, was an Italian comic book artist whose career spanned over six decades. He is best known for his work on the erotic-fantasy series *Shatane* and the horror-themed *Casino*, as well as contributions to romance and adventure comics. Frollo began his professional path in the late 1950s, initially drawing for Italian fumetti publishers before gaining wider recognition. His style combined detailed, elegant linework with a flair for dramatic, often sensual compositions, making him a sought-after collaborator for writers like Renzo Barbieri and Giorgio Cavedon. He co-created the character Naga, a serpentine femme fatale, and worked extensively on *Biancaneve*, a dark reimagining of Snow White. Frollo’s later years saw continued output, with his last credited work appearing in 2020. His legacy lies in his ability to blend genre storytelling with sophisticated artistry, influencing Italian comics’ erotic and horror genres. He received no major awards recorded in standard references, but his extensive catalog—over 120 issues—remains a testament to his prolific career.
