Sue meets Bob at the bed-sitter they share. He complains about her loud rehearsing and she complains about his loud guitar playing. He bets her he will get into showbiz before her. Shortly after that, Sue is asked to impersonate a famous film actress who has eloped, leaving a hole in her agent's bookings. Things get complicated when 'Marcelle' has to kiss the winner of a talent contest who happens to be Bob. Then she is asked to finish the tour as 'Marcelle', a tour which now includes a new booking for Bob.
