Ken Steacy was born on January 8, 1955, in Canada, and is a versatile comics artist and writer whose career spans from the early 1980s into the 2010s. He is best known for his work on licensed properties, including the NOW Comics series *Astro Boy* and the Comico series *Jonny Quest*, as well as for his graphic novel collaborations. Steacy’s path into comics included a stint with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets, but his artistic drive led him to the industry, where he became a steady hand on titles like *The Real Ghostbusters*, *Vortex*, *Mars Attacks*, and *Tempus Fugitive*. His signature style—detailed, dynamic, and suited to both sci-fi and adventure—shone in collaborations with writers such as Harlan Ellison on *Night and the Enemy* (1987) and Dean Motter on *The Sacred and the Profane* (1987). He also co-created *War Bears* with writer Margaret Atwood. Over his active years (1981–2019), Steacy contributed as an artist, colorist, inker, letterer, and writer across 76 issues. His later legacy includes a reputation for meticulous craft and a willingness to tackle diverse genres, though major awards are not widely recorded. He remains a respected figure in Canadian comics, known for bridging mainstream and alternative sensibilities.
