James D. Hudnall
James D. Hudnall was born on April 10, 1957, and died on April 9, 2019. He began his comics career in 1986 with the series *Espers* for Eclipse Comics, a supernatural thriller that established his interest in psychic themes and corporate intrigue. He later wrote for Marvel and DC, contributing to *Alpha Flight*, *Strikeforce: Morituri*, and his own creation *Interface*, a direct sequel to *Espers*. His graphic novels include *Lex Luthor: The Unauthorized Biography*, *Sinking*, *Streets*, and *The Psycho*. Hudnall co-created the series *Harsh Realm* with artist Andrew Paquette; the property was adapted into a television series by *X-Files* producer Chris Carter in 1998. When Hudnall and Paquette were initially omitted from the credits, they sued Carter and Fox Television, eventually settling and receiving on-screen acknowledgment. His other works include *The Age of Heroes*, *Aftermath*, *Hardcase*, *The Solution*, and the manga-influenced *Pineapple Army*. He also wrote a libertarian-leaning blog for the Pajamas Media network. Across 147 issues from 1986 to 2012, he worked as writer, colorist, and letterer, leaving a body of work that balanced superhero conventions with darker, more personal storytelling.
