Hudnall and artist John Ridgway. The story follows a group of individuals with psychic abilities who are recruited by a secret government agency to combat a global conspiracy involving mind control and corporate espionage. Known for its mature themes and psychological depth, ESPers offers a gritty take on the super-powered genre within Marvel's Epic Comics imprint.
In "The Gathering of Power," teenage Esper Linda Williams sets out to rescue her father, taken by a shadowy group known as the Inner Circle, led by the enigmatic Koznishev. With courage and a growing connection to her latent powers, she unites five other young Espers, each with unique abilities, to confront a threat far greater than they imagined.
In "The Coming Storm," the Espers find themselves caught in a deadly game when an outing turns disastrous after they provoke Mafia boss Benito Giovanetti. With Linda's father dead and other hostages held, the team must act—while Ian McVicar vanishes into the hands of the Inner Circle.
In "Thunderhead," the Espers confront the Inner Circle, only to uncover a threat far more dangerous than they imagined. As the group prepares to detonate a nuclear bomb, the line between enemy and catastrophe blurs.
In "Assassins," the Inner Circle dispatches three deadly operatives—Perry, Chong, and Black—to eliminate the Espers before Benito Giovanetti can carry out his assault. As the assassins close in, the fate of the Espers hangs in the balance, caught between shadow and survival.
