Who is Two-Face?

Once Gotham City's crusading District Attorney Harvey Dent, he was hideously scarred on one side of his face when acid was thrown at him during a trial, fracturing his psyche and driving him to a life of crime governed by the flip of a two-headed coin.

Few villains in comics carry the weight of duality quite like Two-Face, who first haunted the pages of Detective Comics #66 in 1942, conjured by the legendary Golden Age team of Bill Finger and Bob Kane. Over an extraordinary span stretching from the early days of DC's universe all the way to the present, this scarred schemer has remained one of Batman's most enduring and psychologically compelling adversaries, appearing across flagship titles like Detective Comics, Batman, and even Catwoman. He shares his twisted world with the Dark Knight himself, Bruce Wayne, Robin, and Dick Grayson β€” the very heart of Gotham's heroic circle β€” which speaks to just how central he is to the mythology of that city. A true Golden Age original who has never stopped mattering, Two-Face is essential reading for anyone serious about the history of comics villainy.
