Tweety Bird
Tweety is a small yellow canary best known for his deceptively innocent appearance and his ongoing rivalry with Sylvester the Cat, consistently outsmarting the scheming feline despite his diminutive size. The character originated in Warner Bros. animation before transitioning to comics.
Few comic characters can claim the kind of enduring charm that Tweety Bird brings to the page β this deceptively sweet little canary made their comic book debut in Tweety and Sylvester #8 in 1955, right in the heart of the Golden Age, brought to print by a creative team that included William F. Nolan, Charles Beaumont, and Pete Alvarado. Published under DC's banner across an impressive stretch of more than five decades, Tweety's comic adventures ran all the way through 2008, appearing most prominently in the beloved Looney Tunes series. The company Tweety keeps is about as iconic as it gets in animation-to-comics history β sharing pages with Bugs Bunny, Sylvester Pussycat, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, and Porky Pig, this little bird sits comfortably at the heart of one of comics' most joyful and enduring cartoon universes.
