Detective Chimp
A Florida circus chimpanzee who drank from the Fountain of Youth, Bobo T. Chimpanzee gained human-level intellect and the ability to communicate with all animals. He eventually parlayed these gifts into a career as a remarkably sharp private detective.
One of DC's most delightfully unexpected cult favorites, Detective Chimp has been charming readers since a 1968 Silver Age debut in Blackhawk #243, courtesy of Bob Haney and Pat Boyette. Over a remarkable span stretching nearly six decades, this sharp-minded simian investigator has shared adventures with some of the DC universe's heaviest hitters β Superman, Batman, and Green Lantern among them β while carving out a niche in titles like Detective Comics, Shadowpact, and Batman. There's something genuinely special about a character who earns a place alongside DC's finest and keeps coming back decade after decade; Detective Chimp is proof that the most memorable figures in comics don't always wear a cape β sometimes they wear a deerstalker.
