Buster Witwicky
Buster Witwicky is a teenage human boy who first appeared in Marvel's landmark Transformers debut issue in 1984. The son of mechanic Sparkplug Witwicky, he becomes unexpectedly drawn into the conflict between the Autobots and Decepticons after the alien robots arrive on Earth.
Few human characters can claim they were there at the very beginning of one of comics' most beloved sci-fi sagas β but Buster Witwicky was right there in The Transformers #1 back in 1984, co-created by Bill Mantlo, Ralph Macchio, and Frank Springer in the waning days of the Bronze Age. A Marvel mainstay woven into the fabric of the original Transformers run, Buster shares the page with titans like Optimus Prime, Soundwave, Starscream, and Ratchet β about as electrifying a cast of characters as Bronze Age comics had to offer. With two key-issue appearances to his name and a presence that has somehow stretched across an extraordinary 41 years of publishing history, he's a testament to just how enduring that original 1984 universe proved to be. For collectors chasing the roots of the Transformers mythology, Buster is the human thread that ties it all together β and a genuinely rewarding figure to track through the longboxes.
